Senior Sales Engineer, Vehicle Testing Capital Equipment, £45,000 + Car, based from HQ in Buckingham. This is a great career opportunity for a highly talented senior sales engineer, perhaps looking for their first break into sales management, to join a world renowned specialist provider of capital equipment into the vehicle testing industry. This senior sales role is spearheading the sales team and managing the larger accounts together with leading tenders for large projects and new business development.
Working for a leader in the field of vehicle testing equipment that has been established for over 50 years, you must be a technically strong, proactive and proven sales engineer with strong commercial acumen, a consultative approach and the tenacity to deliver aggressive growth plans.
Having operated in the UK since 1990 it is planned that your role will develop into sales and operational management within 18 to 24 months. Therefore the role requires an individual with strong leadership skills that has an entrepreneurial streak and the tenacity to develop new business whilst effectively managing the significant existing account base. Clients include the MoD, VOSA (MOT testing centres) and hundreds of Fleet owners like Bus operators, Haulage and Transport Companies, Large Dealer Workshops, Local Authorities, etc. In addition you are expected to have the ability to step into a people management role and possess the gravitas and credibility to lead twenty plus staff.
Your experience will have been gained in selling capital equipment into the truck, fleet, bus and coach or vehicle testing sectors. Alternatively your experience could be selling capital equipment into the MoD or other organisations that manage the maintenance of their own commercial vehicles. This could include local authorities, bus and coach operators, distribution or other haulage sectors.
The sale is of vehicle testing capital equipment together with associated contracts to maintain, service and supply consumables. It therefore requires a consultative and solution led technical sales professional with the sales 'instinct' to win large capital equipment business together with the nurturing qualities to service existing accounts.
In addition you will possess a strong commercial streak together with the ambition to drive sales and operations throughout the UK to become the recognised market leading provider of vehicle testing systems.

* You will be a hands on and practical sales engineer (with a mechanical or electro-mechanical technical background) that has progressed into sales, perhaps from a manufacturing environment, an engineering apprenticeship or from being a graduate engineer.
* You will be a strong business developer with a proven history of breaking into and winning high valued capital equipment sales into at least one of the following markets: the MoD, vehicle testing, tank truck or tanker lorry transportation industry, lorry refurbishment and modification, logistics, freight, haulage, bus and coach operators, local authorities or MoT testing centres.
* Whilst proven people management experience is not a prerequisite some management experience would be desirable
* You will be ethical in your sales approach and be able to build and maintain a solid pipeline of new business (and have the sales nous and pipeline management skills to accurately forecast 12 months in advance).
* You will be able to build strong business partnerships at all levels and sell in a consultative and advisory manner.
* You will be technically aware and boast solid general IT skills. A knowledge of the vehicle testing arena will be a distinct advantage.
* You will be hardworking, tenacious and reliable with a solid reputation for year on year sales growth
* You will possess an ability to sell at both a technical and a commercial level. In addition you will be able to lead winning tenders and construct compelling tailored pitches for long term contracts to supply.
* To succeed in this role you will be a goal focused and targeted individual with strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Whilst the role is covering the whole of the UK it reports to the HQ in Buckingham. Therefore you will ideally be located within a 45 minute commute from Buckingham, Buckinghamshire
