New year brings about a fresh start for sales recruitment

Entering into a new year often brings with it fresh opportunities for sales recruitment, according to an industry expert.

Rob Moore, director of Xpress Recruitment, told STV.tv that, with people making New Year resolutions and deciding to start with a clean slate, it was no surprise that January is such a popular month for looking at new sales recruitment positions.

The expert added that the number of people job-hunting in the UK trebles in the first few weeks of a new year.

"We often find that people have had such a great Christmas and New Year that they go back to work and they have a bit of the January blues, or their New Year resolution comes (up) and they want a new career or new job, so we often find that the volume of people looking for jobs goes up at this time of year," he said.

Mr Moore also commented that redundancy and boredom in current jobs are another two big reasons why people want to change their careers, but he advises it is important to thoroughly think through what they are moving into.

Working.com also confirmed this week that many people would have spent their first lunch hour back at work searching for a new job.
